The study and translation of legal texts are connected primarily to not the culture in its very content, but to the translation of legal terminology that contains impacts of legal culture which the country belongs to. Legal culture often describes merely an extended understanding of law and is thus synonymous with “living law”.
Abstract The author endeavors to improve the proficiency of English teachers of ESP, in particular Legal English teachers of the School of Law, National University of Mongolia. The article focuses on the following issues: Professional English at the University; Specifics of Legal English (School of Law); Importance of developing innovative teaching approaches for improving of proficiency of Legal English teachers.
Presentation emphasizes that teaching methods of Legal English are in part similar to the teaching methods of any other foreign language. However, there are some additional specific approaches in the teaching of the Professional Legal English to students of law schools. The common methods are combined with the complex philosophical method of Hermeneutics and Practical Presentation work.
Article focuses on theoretical aspects and practical application of legal terms. The issue on translation of legal terms has its specifics and approaches, and is more connected to the jurisprudence or legal studies.
