The improvement of English language communicative competence requires using new ways or approaches and advanced technologies nowadays. Rapid technological advances have significantly expanded opportunities for second language learning and instruction. Video-based smart platforms such as TED Talks, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram are perceived to affect students’ emotions and cognition. Among them Ted Talks materials are widely used by English teachers worldwide and these videos are useful for developing lessons of English for academic purposes. This article provides a brief review of literature related to methodological issues of using TED Talks in the EFL classroom to motivate students and enhance their English language skills. In order to use TED Talks lectures as teaching or learning material, teachers should carefully choose them according to certain criteria. The present study describes an organization of a lesson in which authors used TED Talks lecture as a listening source. Therefore, the present study was carried out to examine students use TED Talks to improve their speaking performance and to explore their perceptions of the platform’s effectiveness in enhancing speaking skill.
Teaching and learning activities are built upon active collaboration between instructors and students. To strengthen the knowledge and skills developed in class, teachers apply various strategies to promote student involvement, with group work being one of the most widely used and effective techniques. Despite requiring careful planning and strong facilitation skills from teachers, group-based activities provide significant educational benefits. In particular, group work helps students build collaborative skills, gain deeper and more organized knowledge, foster a sense of responsibility, and improve their problem-solving abilities. Therefore, teachers need to consider several important factors when implementing group tasks. This study explores the potential outcomes of group work, supported by empirical evidence demonstrating its effectiveness in the learning process.
This study investigated the factors influencing the career choices of high school students in Mongolia, focusing on the teaching profession. The factors were classified into intrinsic, extrinsic, and influence of others on the decision to pursue a teaching career. The study was conducted using a questionnaire. The findings indicated that students are deterred from pursuing a teaching career due to heavy workloads, inadequate pay, limited opportunities for career advancement, and unfavorable working conditions. This article provides some reviews related to lecture note-taking as a beneficial strategy to increase students’ ability to remember, understand and retell the listening material. Note-taking is considered as one of the most important tools in academic lecture listening. There are a lot of studies showing different ways to improve listening comprehension, especially using note-taking method to improve this skill. The aim of study is to promote the effects of note-taking on listening comprehension and recall of lecture information provided in Academic English Oral Communication classes
The transitional education is increasingly becoming popular as it provides internationally recognized education at the doorstep of students. The reduction of subsidies to Western universities has created conditions for looking for alternative ways to generate income to offset the financial short fall. As a result, the Western higher educational institutions have become heavily dependent on onshore fee paying international students. However, the income from onshore fee paying international students is falling. Therefore, universities start to offer their education to international students in their home countries. Scant information on impacts of transnational education is currently available in the public domain.
