Abstract. Recently, there have been two different opinions about the situation of the Russian language in Mongolia. Some believe that the Russian language plays an important role in the country. And others say that in the new conditions, Russian ceases to be the dominant foreign language. The position of the Russian language in modern Mongolian society is viewed differently. In this regard, we have put forward the question of considering the situation of the Russian language and the possibilities of the spread of the Russian language in Mongolia. Our study focuses on the conditions in Western Mongolia, especially in Khovd. The main reasons for the loss of positions are based on the results of the study on educational policy, the dominance of English becomes an equally significant factor. It is revealed that there is a need against the background of economic development, especially the geopolitical situation has a significant place. В последнее время существуют различные мнения о положении русского язкыа в Монголии. Одни считают, что русский язык играет важную роль в стране. А другие говорят, что в новых условиях русский язык перестает быть доминирующим иностранным языком. Таким образом о позиции русского языка в современном обсществе Монголии рассматривают по разному. Как отмечает В. И. Терентьев, «страна постепенно отходит от необходимости изучать язык (традиционное именование монголами России) для того, чтобы отворять “окно в мир”. К английскому, как к языку международного общения, добавляются ныне государственные языки активных азиатских партнеров. По мнению Давыда Мунгуншагай, языковые приоритеты и государственная языковая политика в Монголии определяются не только дипломатическими отношениями, но и объемами инвестиций в экономику.

Целью исследование было выяснить как представляют молодёжи образ счастливой семьи в современных условиях глобализации. В современных условиях глобализации происходит стирание межнациональных границ, культурное наследие имеет все меньше власти в сознании молодого поколения, на смену старым образцам приходят все новые формы построения семейных отношений, распределения внутрисемейных обязанностей. Семейная трансформация приобретает все более масштабный характер, что предполагает, как осмысления ее причин, так и содержания происходящих изменений. Необходимо проследить каким представляет свое будущее молодое поколение, каким оно его планирует, и именно семья является одним из главных и обязательных элементов дальнейшей жизни каждого здравомыслящего человека, желающего оставить после себя след.

Abstract: This article presents the ENglish Reading Online (ENRO) project that offers data on English reading and listening comprehension from 7,338 university-level advanced learners and native speakers of English representing 19 countries. The database also includes estimates of reading rate and seven component skills of English, including vocabulary, spelling, and grammar, as well as rich demographic and language background data. We first demonstrate high reliability for ENRO tests and their convergent validity with existing meta-analyses. Importance of the study: Ensuring gender equality in education is a basis for creating opportunities for both men and women to participate equally in social development and receive the benefits of development equally. Gender-sensitive curricula and course materials are crucial in avoiding social stereotypes and eliminating gender inequalities. Therefore, it is important to analyze the gender sensitivity of educational curricula and teaching materials at all levels of educational institutions. Novelty of the study: The analysis of gender sensitivity in Mongolia's secondary school curriculum and teaching materials has not been done before. The novelty of this work is that through this research, we are taking a new step to create gender equality and inclusiveness in educational content by analyzing the content of some English course textbooks and teachers' teaching methods. Research method: Content analysis was quantitatively used in analyzing word order where both sexes are mentioned in English textbooks for 8th and 9th graders. In analyzing word order, where feminine and masculine terms were used together, the order of their occurrence was noted and counted. According to the results of the study, in two textbooks, there are only 6 female-first occurrences out of a total of 45 occurrences. Having the masculine form always preceding the feminine gives the impression that ensuring gender equality is insufficient in textbooks. We took an online 10-question questionnaire survey from 200 secondary school English teachers to find out how they approach teaching with gender sensitivity. In other words, the answers to the questions that ask about greeting students and instructing on exercises and tasks usually put masculine words always preceding or they chose the answer without paying attention to it at all. Thus, according to the results of 2 types of research, it is seen that gender stereotypes are still maintained, which means that the rights, opportunities, and responsibilities enjoyed by men and women are not equal, which might affect negatively a rights-based approach to assure gender equality and justice without discrimination and it is likely there is a tendency that men are preferred to develop. This violates the equal rights of men and women and gives students the idea that their roles and positions in society should be different.

The article is devoted to the phono-semantic study of the emotive meanings of consonant sounds of the Mongolian language by the psycholinguistic experiment with native speakers. Studies of sound symbolism, including psycholinguistic measurements, have led to the conclusion that there is an initial connection between the sound shells of words and their meanings in different languages. Thus, the idea that existed in linguistics for a long time about the content of sound forms, which tend to one way or another to correspond to the meaning of words, was confirmed. We have chosen the most frequent consonants in the modern Mongolian literary language. As a result of the experiment, the emotive meanings of the selected consonants are marked and it is stated that the sounds vividly express the emotive meanings associated with the internal state, such as discomfort, unpleasant sensations, and feelings, or calmness, silence, as well as pride, joy. Consonants with positive or negative emotional meanings are defined. We consider that this may be due to the acoustic-articulatory features of this sound. But it is also revealed that some sounds have neutral and different ratings.

We then provide a bird's-eye view of first (L1) and second (L2) language comparisons and examine the relative role of various predictors of reading and listening comprehension and reading speed. Across analyses, we found substantially more overlap than differences between L1 and L2 speakers, suggesting that English reading proficiency is best considered across a continuum of skill, ability, and experiences spanning L1 and L2 speakers alike. We end by providing pointers for how researchers can mine ENRO data for future studies.

he study is focused on palatal vowel harmony effect on word recognition time in Khalkha-Mongolian native speakers during the lexical decision task. The study involved 26 native speakers of Khalkha-Mongolian living in the Khovd province of Mongolia (females (n=17) and males (n=9); mean age=21.8; SD=6.9). Experimental blocks included only visual verbal stimuli printed in Cyrillic: words and pseudo-words representing the presence or absence of palatal vowel harmony, as well as non-words (unpronounceable sets of letters). Visual stimuli included real KhalkhaMongolian word forms of different frequencies (n=30, from 613.64 to 0.98 ipm, half of them were "masculine" words (-ATR harmonic class) and the other half included "feminine" ones (+ATR harmonic class), The word forms were extracted from the Mongolian Web Texts 2016 corpus (mnWaC16) with a volume of 6 104 565 word forms. Word length varied from six to ten characters. All words were of independent grammar categories (parts of speech); the set of stimuli included word forms with both derivational and inflectional affixes. The first syllable of all words varied in the same way as the first syllable of the pseudo-words we used (n=16). The pseudo-words were constructed according to Amy LaCross' study (2011). Fourteen stimuli were non-words (a sequence of letters not amenable to normal pronunciation). The main session included 60 trials. The end of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century in linguistics is marked by the active development of psycholinguistics and cognitive linguistics of the anthropocentric approach. Currently, there is a large number of works performed within these paradigms. However, there is still no consensus on how these two directions in linguistics relate. The development of these scientific paradigms has predetermined the spread of opinion about the need to involve native speakers in research devoted to the study of language units at various levels. For phraseology, this is especially relevant, since the appeal to the linguistic competence of informants is an indispensable guarantee of the explainatarity of the results obtained, and also opens up new prospects in the study of a number of theoretical positions, the answer to which cannot be obtained within the framework of traditional theory. In modern anthropocentric studies, various issues are being solved, such as the study of the stability and idiomatics of phraseological units of various types, the identification of strategies and supports in the perception of foreign phraseological units. Thus, the relevance of this study, firstly, lies in the fact that phraseological units are considered by us in a cognitive perspective using psycholinguistic methods. And, secondly, it focuses on the essential characteristics of the content of phraseological units - internal form and imagery. The insufficient number of works devoted to the study of the semantics of phraseological units makes our study particularly significant. In addition, based on the results of experiments, we can say that some phraseological units contain "strong" lexemes that provoke a correct or incorrect understanding of the meaning of phraseological units, especially this phenomenon is characteristic of the recognition of phraseological units of the English language. By "strong" lexemes, we mean words that are basic from the point of view of native speakers, which can equally facilitate the correct identification of phraseology, and cause false associations with other phraseology of the native language, which includes this reference unit in its composition. The most important factors for the intuitive identification of a foreign and native idiom are syntactic structure of the idiom, conceptual semantics, lexical components and interlanguage figurativeness and these factors have different extent of strength in the process of interpretation. Preliminary analysis showed the dependence of metaphorical perception on respondents` age and education (older speakers prefer literal interpretation). At this stage it is difficult to talk about the influence of the gender factor on the choice of strategies for idioms` interpretation.

In experimental psycholinguistics, one clue into the architecture of lexical memory comes from the presence of robust frequency effects in lexical decision task (LDT), in which subjects judge whether a written stimulus is a real word or a nonword, and processing complexity is measured by reaction time (RT). For example, in LDT the visual word recognition process is facilitated (or inhibited) by word frequency as measured from the representative corpus. Our study verifies the word frequency effect in standard ("yes/no task") LDT performed by Khalkha Mongolian subjects. The results showed strong weight of word frequency as RTs predictor (R 2 = .631, F (1, 28) = 50.57, p < .000, β = .802, t = 7.111, p < .000). Our experimental results also correspond to experimental findings on word frequency effects for Japanese Katakana (syllabic) and Kanji (logographic) words in standard LDT. Such lexical decision "script moderation" could be the actual clue for further LDT experiments (e. g., relatively "deep" Mongolian script vs. "shallow" Cyrillic Mongolian).
